Watches

One item every woman should own is a watch. For the past year or so I have contemplated investing in a good quality timepiece, but have just stuck to inexpensive, trendy options. However, I finally decided to splurge and get a Michael Kors watch. I chose one that was versatile, stylish, and silver. I couldn't decide between gold and silver, but finally chose silver because it looked better on my arm! Bottom line is that this watch was worth the investment. It serves as a permanent, classy accessory.

It's Raining, It's Pouring

We've recently had a bit of rain in LA. I know, I can't complain. Compared to the rest of the country, our weather is very tame!  And don't get me wrong, I love the rain when I'm in the right outfit....but when I'm not, then rain=bad. Part of my dilemma with rain is that I don't have rainboots. Well, I do, but they are old and not very cute. This leads me to the adorable Hunter rainboots. They are so chic looking, especially with the socks, but I'm not sure if they are worth the investment.  What do you think?

Happy Turkey Day!

Hi lovelies, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am still stuffed from the delicious meal I had with my family.  I have so much to be thankful for!

Over the past few weeks, college applications have taken over my life, which has left me with little time for blogging.  But don't worry, I'm back (at least for now!).  The past few days I have been a homebody, enjoying family and friends. I just finished an amazing book, Sarah's Key. If you need a book to read by the fire I definitely recommend it (but be warned, it's a heavy subject-matter).
On the fashion front, it is finally feeling like fall here in LA and I just ordered the cutest new Steve Madden boots. I love the buckles/straps and can't wait to wear them out!

Gift Giving

Gift giving is always hard, especially when you are giving the gift to someone you are close to. Today is my mom's birthday. Most years my sister, my dad, and I try to find a gift together, but my mom always seems to end up returning it for one reason or another. This year I was determined to find my mom the perfect gift. I narrowed my search down by restricting myself to Nordstrom.  I just started working there, so the discount was a plus! As I was searching through the store for a cute blouse or sweater, I came across this Free People sweater. I loved the knit work and style so I decided to take a leap of faith and buy it. When time came for my mom to open it, I was delighted when she smiled and said she loved it. The only problem was that it was too big. Oh well, at least I tried!

P.S. Happy Birthday Mommy!

Coats!

Hello lovelies! I know I write about my love for J.Crew a lot, but I have to do it again. When I got the catalogue in the mail, I absolutely fell in love with all the spreads. Right now I am obsessing over coats. I love this peacoat because of its structure and detail. The gold buttons add an adorable touch. The grey is such a versatile color, and it looks great with the burnt red leggings. Unfortunately it's still about 90 degrees in LA, and coat weather might be months away!

Colored Skinnys?

Hello lovelies!  One of my constant  fashion battles concerns pants.  I am a denim lover, and always end up wearing jeans.   Yes, jeans are super cute, but sometimes they get a little tiring.  I love dresses and skirts, but for school, jeans are usually the most comfortable thing.

This season I have been seeing a lot of colored skinny jeans.  At first I was not a big fan, but I have grown to like them if paired with the right components.  In the pictures above, I really like the bright emerald pants with the gray and black.  Also, the turquoise works very well with the light pink.  If you are going to try out a colored pant, I would definitely make sure to wear very subtle and neutral tones to balance the brightness on bottom.  The pants should be the main focus of your outfit.  I will try out this look, and exchange my jeans for a pair of colored skinnys!

New York Fashion Week

Hi lovelies!

As you know it is Fashion Week in NYC; the week that  someday I hope to attend.  For now, I am enjoying looking at all of the incredible trends on the wonderful invention called the Internet!

I have been on Style.com and can't stop viewing all the Spring 2012 Collections.  So much for getting my homework done!  My favorites have been Oscar de la Renta, Nanette Lapore, and J.Crew.

Oscar de la Renta has outdone himself this time!  I absolutely love the two looks I have posted.  The light pink feather dress is gorgeous.  It has beautiful texture and looks so glamorous.  Also, I love how a more casual shirt is placed over an amazing ball gown.  The contrast is magnificent.  As for Nanette Lapore, the bright colors she is using are fantastic.  The pink and blue printed bathing suit looks so fashion-forward.  The neon yellow crop top with the orange skirt is a great example of color blocking that is still going to be "in" for spring.

What I love about J.Crew is that every piece  is beautifully simple and can be paired with many different items.  The pink sparkle skirt paired with the pink blouse is extremely classy and elegant, and I love the orange accessories.  As for the other outfit, I want it!  The leopard shorts with the green top are  chic and can be worn anywhere.  I can't wait to see more Spring 2012 Collections!

Brandy Melville

This past weekend I went shopping with some friends at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica.  We spent most our time at Brandy Melville, a super cute store that is ridiculously affordable.  I cannot believe that I had not discovered this store months ago when it first opened!  I bought four adorable tops for $95.  All ranging in price from $20-$35.  The only down side was that the store filled with customers, so the staff was not able to keep up with refolding the merchandise and, as a result, displays were messy.  However, I'm not complaining!  There was no way the staff could keep up with the flow of customers looking to find the latest styles at great prices.  There are multiple locations and everyone should definitely stop by.  I am already planing my next visit!

The September Issue

I know I'm about two years late, but I recently watched The September Issue. I am so glad I did because it was a fabulous documentary.
For those of you who don't know, The September Issue focuses on Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue. The audience has a window into the trials and tribulations of putting together the most important issue of the year, the September issue! As Grace Coddington says in the film, the September issue is Vogue's January. It marks the start of the new fashion season.
It is extremely eye opening to realize the time and energy put into each issue. Watching the movie made me want to work in fashion even more. The fashion world is fast-paced, ever changing, and so dynamic. The September Issue was an inspiring peek into the world of fashion media.

Madewell

Even though it is 100 degrees here in Los Angeles, I cannot help myself from looking at the fall collections. Madewell is perfect. Seriously though, I want the whole lookbook. I'm really loving blazers and coats over sweet dresses, shorts, and blouses. I think it is the perfect transition from summer to fall. These are some of my favorite!

Shopping in NYC

Hi lovelies! I have been traveling on the east coast for the past week and am now at a summer program at Yale University. While on my trip, I stopped in NYC and did some shopping. I also saw Catch Me if You Can, which is a fabulous Broadway musical. The lead, Aaron Tveit, is incredibly gorgeous and has an amazing voice, and the other lead, Norbert Leo Butz, won the Tony award for best male actor in a musical.

Another highlight of my New York day was shopping at TopShop. I really wish LA had one because let me tell you how cute the clothes are...VERY! While I was shopping, an employee randomly came up and took my clothes to the personal shopping area of the store. I was provided a huge room to try on clothes, given water in special “Personal Shopping” bottles, offered cupcakes and candy, and didn’t have to wait to pay for my purchases! The personal shopper took the credit card while I sat an enjoyed my treats! Additionally, students get 10% off, which is crazy wonderful! All of this special treatment was free, so next time you’re in New York you should call ahead to Topshop and make a personal shopping appointment!

Rompers

I'm in the center in the grey/white/orange romper.
After almost two weeks of no school, it is finally feeling like summer. My go to clothing items are rompers. I love rompers because they are a complete outfit; all you need to do is add shoes and accessories and then you are done!
My birthday was on Monday and I wore this romper (pictured above). I love the print and bright colors! My girlfriends surprised me with a dinner party and it was so sweet. Everyone looked adorable; I love you all!

Summer allows for multitudes of amazing clothes; I picked out a few of my must have items. There is everything from long maxi skirts and dresses to lace detailing to studded headbands. I've been very drawn to the color coral for summer and I'm loving it on the Rag & Bone maxi skirt. I also adore the turquoise earrings from Anthropologie, along with the rest of my picks! Dresses

One of my favorite things about the summer is being able to wear dresses. The only thing is, I some how manage to always slip on a pair of shorts and leave my poor dresses hanging in my closet. This summer however, I am promising myself that I will wear lots and lots of dresses! Here are some that I am crazy about.

Wedges

I'm loving these Dolce Vita for Target wedges. They are super cute on and totally affordable. The only down side is that they after several hours, they get a little uncomfortable. However, for short periods of time they are perfect to wear! I loved the brown, but they also came in white and black. The zipper on the back and the buckles make them even cuter. They were definitely worth the purchase!

I'm Back!!!

So I know I have been AWOL the last month, but I'm happy to say I am back to blogging! I am finally done with AP tests and have time to breathe again. I know I'm a little late, but I must discuss the Royal Wedding fashion. First off, let me say, sheer perfection. I adored Kate Middleton's wedding dress. I thought it was extremely classy, but the low v-neck added the perfect amount of edge. My favorite part was the lace sleeves and the gorgeous train. Also, I absolutely LOVED Pippa's dress. The neck line was fabulous and the detailing on the back was impeccable! What were all of your thoughts?

Free People Lovin'

The weather in LA the past week has been amazing and it is time for spring fashion! I have woken up everyday and struggled to find a perfect outfit. Thankfully, as I was online shopping, I stumbled upon tons of cute spring time necessities at Free People. I am loving the relaxed but polished look with crochet and lace pieces. Light colors like white, blush, and nude are great for spring as well. All of these outfits would be perfect for a sunny day paired with a cute gladiators.

P.S. Ironically, now it is pouring rain outside. I guess I might need to pull out my boots and sweaters just one more time!

And the Oscar Goes to...

Although James Franco and Anne Hathaway weren't as good as I had hoped, the red carpet was full of great fashion! And speaking of Anne Hathaway, how many dresses did she wear? 7? Well I loved her red carpet dress (the red Valentino) and also the burgundy dress by Atelier Versace. Also, I was a huge fan of Mila Kunis's lavender lace Elie Saab Couture dress. I thought it was lovely! Sandra Bullock also looked gorgeous in her scarlet Vera Wang gown. Red was very prominent on the red carpet this evening and it seems like the red trend will be big for spring as well!

The Best Cookie You Will Ever Eat

I know this is not a food blog, but I found this recipe and would have felt extremely guilty if I did not share it with all of you. This weekend I made cookies. No, not your ordinary cookies. I made Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies, and let me tell you, they were delicious. Basically you put cookie dough around an Oreo, and then bake it in the oven. They turned out huge, amazing, and addicting. I found the recipe here. Happy baking!

Spring Trends

With this crazy LA weather, I have been dreaming of summer, only to be rudely awakened by it only being January. That means a whole other semester of school. Although it is still technically "winter," we can still embrace spring trends. This spring, lace, prints, and bright colors are all over the runway. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from Style.com.

Michael Kors
Isabel Marant
Anna Sui
Malandrino

P.S. My gel nails lasted for nearly 3 weeks, definitely worth the investment!
