Coats!

Hello lovelies! I know I write about my love for J.Crew a lot, but I have to do it again. When I got the catalogue in the mail, I absolutely fell in love with all the spreads. Right now I am obsessing over coats. I love this peacoat because of its structure and detail. The gold buttons add an adorable touch. The grey is such a versatile color, and it looks great with the burnt red leggings. Unfortunately it's still about 90 degrees in LA, and coat weather might be months away!

Colored Skinnys?

Hello lovelies!  One of my constant  fashion battles concerns pants.  I am a denim lover, and always end up wearing jeans.   Yes, jeans are super cute, but sometimes they get a little tiring.  I love dresses and skirts, but for school, jeans are usually the most comfortable thing.

This season I have been seeing a lot of colored skinny jeans.  At first I was not a big fan, but I have grown to like them if paired with the right components.  In the pictures above, I really like the bright emerald pants with the gray and black.  Also, the turquoise works very well with the light pink.  If you are going to try out a colored pant, I would definitely make sure to wear very subtle and neutral tones to balance the brightness on bottom.  The pants should be the main focus of your outfit.  I will try out this look, and exchange my jeans for a pair of colored skinnys!

New York Fashion Week

Hi lovelies!

As you know it is Fashion Week in NYC; the week that  someday I hope to attend.  For now, I am enjoying looking at all of the incredible trends on the wonderful invention called the Internet!

I have been on Style.com and can't stop viewing all the Spring 2012 Collections.  So much for getting my homework done!  My favorites have been Oscar de la Renta, Nanette Lapore, and J.Crew.

Oscar de la Renta has outdone himself this time!  I absolutely love the two looks I have posted.  The light pink feather dress is gorgeous.  It has beautiful texture and looks so glamorous.  Also, I love how a more casual shirt is placed over an amazing ball gown.  The contrast is magnificent.  As for Nanette Lapore, the bright colors she is using are fantastic.  The pink and blue printed bathing suit looks so fashion-forward.  The neon yellow crop top with the orange skirt is a great example of color blocking that is still going to be "in" for spring.

What I love about J.Crew is that every piece  is beautifully simple and can be paired with many different items.  The pink sparkle skirt paired with the pink blouse is extremely classy and elegant, and I love the orange accessories.  As for the other outfit, I want it!  The leopard shorts with the green top are  chic and can be worn anywhere.  I can't wait to see more Spring 2012 Collections!

Brandy Melville

This past weekend I went shopping with some friends at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica.  We spent most our time at Brandy Melville, a super cute store that is ridiculously affordable.  I cannot believe that I had not discovered this store months ago when it first opened!  I bought four adorable tops for $95.  All ranging in price from $20-$35.  The only down side was that the store filled with customers, so the staff was not able to keep up with refolding the merchandise and, as a result, displays were messy.  However, I'm not complaining!  There was no way the staff could keep up with the flow of customers looking to find the latest styles at great prices.  There are multiple locations and everyone should definitely stop by.  I am already planing my next visit!

The September Issue

I know I'm about two years late, but I recently watched The September Issue. I am so glad I did because it was a fabulous documentary.
For those of you who don't know, The September Issue focuses on Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue. The audience has a window into the trials and tribulations of putting together the most important issue of the year, the September issue! As Grace Coddington says in the film, the September issue is Vogue's January. It marks the start of the new fashion season.
It is extremely eye opening to realize the time and energy put into each issue. Watching the movie made me want to work in fashion even more. The fashion world is fast-paced, ever changing, and so dynamic. The September Issue was an inspiring peek into the world of fashion media.

Madewell

Even though it is 100 degrees here in Los Angeles, I cannot help myself from looking at the fall collections. Madewell is perfect. Seriously though, I want the whole lookbook. I'm really loving blazers and coats over sweet dresses, shorts, and blouses. I think it is the perfect transition from summer to fall. These are some of my favorite!

Shopping in NYC

Hi lovelies! I have been traveling on the east coast for the past week and am now at a summer program at Yale University. While on my trip, I stopped in NYC and did some shopping. I also saw Catch Me if You Can, which is a fabulous Broadway musical. The lead, Aaron Tveit, is incredibly gorgeous and has an amazing voice, and the other lead, Norbert Leo Butz, won the Tony award for best male actor in a musical.

Another highlight of my New York day was shopping at TopShop. I really wish LA had one because let me tell you how cute the clothes are...VERY! While I was shopping, an employee randomly came up and took my clothes to the personal shopping area of the store. I was provided a huge room to try on clothes, given water in special “Personal Shopping” bottles, offered cupcakes and candy, and didn’t have to wait to pay for my purchases! The personal shopper took the credit card while I sat an enjoyed my treats! Additionally, students get 10% off, which is crazy wonderful! All of this special treatment was free, so next time you’re in New York you should call ahead to Topshop and make a personal shopping appointment!
