Gel Nails

On Sunday I decided to splurge at the nail salon and try getting "gel" soak off nail polish. Basically, the "gel" is supposed to last longer and not chip. It sounded like a great idea so I went for it. My friend and I were so intrigued by the process that we hardly noticed the 45 minutes go by. The way they apply the nail polish is through multiple coats, starting and ending with special gel coats, and after each coat you have to put your hands in a dryer. Also, your nails are dry the second they are done. The only down side is the price; it is a little more expensive, but hopefully it will be worth it. Also, at the salon I went to they had a pretty big selection of colors (you have to use the specific gel polishes) which was very nice. So far my nails are holding up great and hopefully they will continue to throughout the holidays.

Emma Watson

I'm going to assume that most of you have already seen Harry Potter 7 Part 1. I am a very avid Harry Potter fan, and thought the movie was fantastic (yes, I read the books). One of my favorite actresses is Emma Watson. Not only does she do a great job playing Hermione, but off screen she has impeccable style. In every picture, from the red carpet to the streets, her outfits are put together beautifully and she always looks amazing. Recently she chopped all of her hair off. Even though I prefer long hair, I think it looks great on her. However, I'm not sure how many other people could pull it off. Also, Emma is collaborating with People Tree a British clothing company. I'm hoping she will come out with her own line sometime in the near future.

Fall Nails

Last week, LA weather taunted us with rain. It was so fabulous to be able to wear boots, pants, and a jacket. Unfortunately that only lasted a day or so and we are back to hot weather. However, I have decided it was time to move into fall with nail polish. OPI came out with their Swiss Collection. All of the colors are gorgeous and I have "William Tell me About OPI" on my toes right now. I love all the other colors too, especially the bright blues and greens! You can't go wrong with any of these colors and I wish I had more hands to wear them all!

Earrings

Hello Lovelies! I have been swamped with school work and there has been no time to blog! Throughout the last few weeks I have become reunited with the thought of wearing earrings. In middle school earrings were all the rage, but these past few years of high school, I have been rejecting all my poor earrings. While I was in Urban Outfitters last weekend I decided to buy a pair of studs, and today I bought another pair from Free People. Earrings are a cute addition to any outfit and really can complete a look. My favorite are studs because they add just enough "glam" without over doing it. The ones pictured above are from Urban Outfitters.

Gossip Girl

I know it's a little late, but the clothes worn on the season premiere of Gossip Girl were absolutely fantastic! I loved Blair and Serena's outfits in the first scene. They were so put together and stylish! The way Blair is wearing two prints together is adorable and Serena's dress is the perfect amount of frill and pink. Also, the red dress Blair is wearing in the preview looks gorgeous! I can't wait to watch tomorrow night!

Wishing For Fashion Week!

Christian Cota Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Cynthia Rowley Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Charlotte Ronson Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear

Unfortunately, I am not in NYC for Fashion Week, but that does not mean I haven't been on style.com constantly checking out all of the collections! Fashion Week is such a huge event in New York and seems like a fashionista's heaven. If watching videos, reading articles, and flipping through collections are super exciting, imagine actually being there! Through my Fashion Week browsing, I have noticed a lot of white on the runway and also a lot of bright pastels. These are some of my favorite runway looks.

Fall Fashions!

So even though it is still a blazing 100 degrees in the San Fernando Valley, I can't help myself from admiring all the fall merchandise. Knit sweaters, combat boots, army jackets...what is not to love? I have already bought a pair of brown combat boots, multiple sweaters, and even an army jacket. The nice thing about combat boots is that they also look great with shorts. Cardigans are great for layering too, and I never leave the house without one, even if it is 100 degrees outside! Basically, I can't wait for the weather to cool down so I can wear all of my fall gear!

Emmy Fashion!

Hello everyone! My favorite part of award shows is always the fashion. Watching all the stars come down the red carpet in their glamorous apparel is so much fun! Tonight some of my favorite dresses were worn by Claire Danes, Jayma Mays, Julie Benz, and Lea Michele. I noticed a trend in dresses, there were a lot of neutral colors and a lot of darker colors. There were hardly any in-betweens. Claire Danes's dress was perfect, it was sweet, feminine, and absolutely gorgeous. Jayma Mays looked fabulous as well; I loved the detailing on her dress. Julie Benz looked great in a one-shoulder cream dress, simple and sophisticated. Last but not least, I adored Lea Michele's dress. It was great that it was blue and the ruffles at the bottom gave it a little edge. The intro to the show was hilarious, but I was disappointed GLEE didn't win more awards! What did all of you think?

Already August?

Summer has been zipping by and I can’t believe it is already mid-August! Ah! School starts soon and I have been attempting to finish all my summer work. Yesterday I was shopping with my mom at one of my favorite boutiques. I saw an adorable blouse, (not really my normal style) but I decided to try it on. Next thing I knew I had spent my gift card and credit, and was walking out the door with my new blouse. I am really glad I bought it because I have already put together numerous outfits with it. Last night I wore it with my black H&M shorts, and black Steve Madden wedges. The blouse really speaks for itself with all the bright colors, which I love. I have also brainstormed some other cute looks, wearing it with blue jeans and boots, white jeans and gladiators, and maybe even over a black skirt! Anyways, I just arrived in Seattle and I’m excited to explore!

Sweets and Shopping!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! On Sunday I was able to experience a little taste of New York right here in LA. Yes, that’s right, Magnolia Bakery opened in LA and I indulged in some amazing treats! Yum, yum, yum! For those of you who don’t know, Magnolia Bakery is from New York City. They have the most amazing baked goods including cupcakes, cakes, cookies, brownies, pudding, cheesecake, and more. The LA location is great. After shopping in Polkadots &Moonbeams next door all I had to do was walk a few steps and I was there! Polkadots & Moonbeams is an adorable boutique. They have a vintage store and modern boutique; both are filled with tons of great finds! There are also lots of other cute boutiques to shop at on Third Street and you can definitely make a fun afternoon out of it!

J.Who? Oh, J.Crew!

Over the past few years I have always noticed the clothes in J.Crew. I don't think I have ever actually bought more than a few things from there, but during the past few months I have totally fallen in love. As I was browsing their website I came across their Fall Look book; it is magnificent. Every outfit is crafted beautifully and each accessory is styled to perfection. I am so excited for fall so I can start wearing some of these fantastic trends.

Dear Whitney...

Ever since I started watching The Hills, I have always been drawn to Whitney's clothes. Her style is feminine, playful, classic, and bohemian all in one. Each of her outfits are incredibly crafted and I always “ooh and ahh” after seeing them. I love how she looks polished in an outfit as simple as shorts and a top, like 3. Also, her red carpet attire is to die for. I absolutely love the David Meister dress she is wearing in 5 at the 2010 CFDA Awards. It is extremely elegant, and the silvery color is very summery, but classy at the same time. Picture 4 is also one of my favorites. It is my perfect Gossip Girl outfit; the ruffles on the jacket, a cute floral dress, black booties, and a black clutch what else could a girl ask for?! The white dress in 1 is perfectly sculpted and the scoop neck is gorgeous. Whitney’s vest in 2, is absolutely adorable with the floral shorts, a perfect shopping outfit! In 6, Whitney’s outfit looks effortless. Her floral dress is flowy, short, and perfect for the summer. Whitney, can I please have your closet?

Lucky for us, Whitney just launched her own line, Whitney Eve, which you can visit at http://whitneyeve.com/home.

Early Morning Shopping!

This morning I woke up bright and early to go to a private pre-anniversary sale at Nordstrom. Because I am on the BP Fashion Board, I received a special invitation to come and shop. We arrived at 8:00 am, and were literally the only people there. Basically, we had the entire store to ourselves and could try on and purchase all of the anniversary sale items. I got a bunch of adorable clothes from B.P. and everything was reasonably priced. The new editions to my wardrobe include brown lace-up Steve Madden boots, a bandage floral skirt, and a silver watch. I absolutely adore the brown lace-up boots. Even though they are a little out of my comfort zone, I plan to wear them with multiple outfits! The floral skirt is super cute; I can dress it up with heels or down with my new boots or sandals. Also, I think my favorite purchase was the watch. It was only $11.90 (I know, so cheap!) and it is definitely going to occupy a permanent spot on my wrist. It is silver and would even look great next to some other bracelets. The anniversary sale hasn’t officially started so you all can get these great deals too! Who knew you could get so much shopping done before 11? Happy shopping!

The Perfect Purse

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! During these first few weeks of magnificent summer I have been stuck in an ongoing purse dilemma. There are times when I need to bring my phone, but not my wallet, or I need to bring my wallet but not my phone. The question always is, which purse to bring? My perfect purse would be an over the shoulder satchel with enough room for my wallet and phone, but small enough so it wouldn’t be too heavy. Now, this isn’t a perfect world so I haven’t found the IT bag yet, but here are a few possibilities.

Sweet Sixteen!

My birthday was on Sunday, and I turned 16! My day consisted of waking up, having a yummy breakfast, going to Malibu with some friends, and then having a delicious dinner! For breakfast I went to Cicis and for dinner we went to The Counter. While in Malibu we had a few yummy snacks, strolled around the Country Mart, and walked on the beach. I wore a new shirt from Soto; it looked almost like denim and was a button up with a three-quarter sleeve. I paired it with black leggings and sandals. It was perfect for the beachy weather; I wasn’t too hot or too cold! To top it all off, today (Monday) I got my license!

These bars were delicious!

My gigantic burger!

P.S. I want to thank my Daddy and Mommy for the best birthday present ever! I love you both.

Calling All Those Fashionistas!

Hello everyone! So, last week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) I attended 3 Days of Fashion at FIDM in Los Angeles. It is a program open to high school students interested in fashion and/or FIDM. We participated in workshops such as draping and spotting a trend and listened to alumni guest speakers such as, the founders of Burlapp, Andrea Hamilton, the owner of Agent Icon Showroom, and Nick Verreos from Project Runway. We even went shopping at the California Market Center. It was a fabulous 3 days, and I really wish it could have been longer! Here are some pictures!

Summer Starters

One of my favorite designers is Ella Moss. I love how all of her clothes can be worn off the runway and are very versatile. Her summer line is adorable, and I have been eyeing a couple of key pieces. Part of my wish list is the Kingston Smock Skirt. I prefer it in the blue and red, the burst of color is fantastic and I think it would be the standout piece of any outfit. Paired with a simple tank and a belt, you could wear it out shopping or even out on a date. Also, the Portico Tunic is very charming. My favorite is the white because it is very elegant and feels very “beachy chic”. I really love the Sedona Cuffed Shorts, they are very feminine, but give you something a little different from your normal pair of shorts. I would wear them with a cute blouse and gladiators. I can spend hours looking at her website and all the amazing clothes, too bad we are in a recession and all I can do is look!

1. Sedona Cuffed Shorts- ellamoss.com $98.00

2. Portico Tunic –ellamoss.com $141.00

3. Kingston Smock Skirt- ellamoss.com $121.00

Oh Those Summer Nights...

Last night I went to my first official party of the summer. It was my friend’s Sweet Sixteen and it was “nice restaurant on the beach attire”. I decided to wear a turquoise strapless dress and add a little edge with a black belt. My favorite part of the outfit was my black wedges. I thought they tied the outfit together and gave me the wonderful bonus of being tall! Friday morning at breakfast I got my inspiration for the color of my toes, purple. As my friend and I were waiting to be seated, Laker star, Lamar Odom walks in! Mind you, this is the morning after the Lakers have won the championship! He was with his brother-in-law Rob and we were seated right next to them. Needless to say, we spent our meal staring at them and eavesdropping on their conversation. I put the silver on my hands because I wanted some sparkle and shine! I love dressing up for parties, picking out the perfect outfit, doing my hair, makeup, and nails, and everything in between!

Romper Crazy!

One of my favorite trends this summer is the romper. I love how you can dress them up or dress them down depending on where you are going. Just adding a cute pair of heels or wedges can get you ready for a night out on the town. If you want to keep it casual, just add a pair of sandals.

Also, I am a big fan of the floral prints. Even though I'm not huge on the whole flower thing, the right floral print can look very summery and feminine. If you want to keep it classic stay with black or white, but spice it up with some striking accessories! Here are some of my favorites right now.

1. Lucca Couture Zip-Front Romper-Urban Outfitters $58.00

2. Lazy Days Romper-Madewell $78.00

3. Joie Raleigh Jumper-Planet Blue $228.00

4. Lace Romper-Free People $108.00

5. Fab Floral Romper-Forever 21 $14.50

6. Angie “Super” Romper-Nordstrom $48.00
